Compostable material texture

The science behind the bag.

Every BagToNature bag is made with BASF ecovio® — a certified plant-based material trusted by manufacturers worldwide for over 25 years.

What is BASF ecovio®?

ecovio® is a high-performance compostable material developed by BASF — one of the world's leading chemical companies. It is a blend of two components.

ecoflex® (PBAT)

A flexible, biodegradable polymer that gives the bags their strength, stretch, and leak resistance.

PLA (Polylactic Acid)

A plant-derived bioplastic made from renewable resources like corn starch.

Together, they create a material that performs like conventional plastic but biodegrades completely under industrial composting conditions.

Tested to ASTM D6400

ASTM D6400 is the industry-standard testing process for compostable plastics. It measures whether a product biodegrades fully within a set timeframe under industrial composting conditions, leaving no harmful residue. BPI Certified means our bags have been independently tested and passed ASTM D6400.
